Welcome to Lorna Gilbert Ceramics
Hello! I’m Lorna, a ceramicist and potter based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK. I believe that pots are self-care. Each cup is a call to reflect, each bowl a moment of connection.
Inspired by the Yorkshire countryside and childhood memories of the West Coast of Scotland, I make stoneware pots for people seeking space and calm. Pots to be held, used and enjoyed. Pots that are tactile and well proportioned, designed to fit perfectly in your hands.

Small & large tapas bowls – Skyline

Flared bud vase – Swift design
My current work is inspired by wilderness, the ocean and mountains. I’m exploring the relationship between matte and gloss glazes as well as their interaction when mixed during firing. This creates tension and fusion, hinting at unseen boundaries as well as reflections and shadows.
My new collection – Mustard Moon features Hares and Swifts.
The hare can symbolise change and feminine energy and is associated with the moon’s energy.
The swift is associated with change, travel and communication. Swifts can also be signs of new beginnings.

As a maker I am conscious of my impact on the environment. In my creative process I therefore try to minimize the energy I use and reuse materials whenever I can.
